I find that these types of plants are great! For a pound you can purchase a small plant with amazing potential.
I spent a few moments showing my children how to propagate from our new plants, with clear instructions not to take any further leaves off afterwards. Thankfully they enjoyed the little planter that much they pottered around keeping the small plants in wonderful condition.
As you can see the leaves act as reservoirs as with aloe, and other varieties that can allow a few new plants for free! If you strip a lower leaf and set it in dry compost and set it aside with grit or stones to mulch, in a few months you will have a newly rooted plant.
Happy Horticulture!
